Guadalupe national park season opens every year on July 1. The corrupted former previous park director worked for a special interest group to delay the opening of the white shark season. Nautilus, the other boat operators and other parties are in court to prevent this and we expect to have positive resolution by June 14, 2022. We will announce […]

By Captain Mike on November 16th, 2021 in Captain Mike, Sea of Cortez, See Creatures Cabo

For 20 years I have been captaining dive boats in the Sea of Cortez, Socorro, and Guadalupe Island and I’ve never had the chance to dive Gordo Banks.   Which really sucks because Gordo Banks has the reputation of being the best-darned dive site around Cabo San Lucas.

By Captain Mike on November 6th, 2021 in Conservation, San Ignacio

How in the world did these most ferocious of all whales pivot and become cute and cuddly with open arms (so to speak!) with humans, their former predators?? We have to thank Pachico, respected patriarch and grandfather of San Ignacio Lagoon, for taming this last remaining significant population of gray whales…

By Captain Mike on June 24th, 2021 in Guadalupe

Captain Mike has been navigating the waters of Guadalupe for almost 20 years, so safe to say he knows his stuff when it comes to the ocean’s top predator, the great white shark. And for unforgettable encounters, here’s his two cents on why you should dive with great white sharks in July… If I were […]
