Socorro Giant Mantas, Dolphins & 11 Species of Sharks

Season: October to March // 8 Days, 7 Nights

Socorro is all about giant mantas, not the number of mantas but the amazing trust they have in us. If a manta looks you in the eye and feels that they can trust you, the most amazing interspecies interaction often follows. That is the magic of Socorro and something we have learned very well since our first exploratory trip out there in 1978. There is more, 15 years ago the dolphins started emulating the mantas when the grandma of the local pod of divers ended up in the arms of dive guide Sten. We now get pod interaction with the bottlenose dolphins on almost every trip.

San Ignacio Lagoon Gray Whales

Season: January to April // 4 Days, 3 Nights

This is the most amazing and spectacular whale interaction with humans on the planet.

Phenomenal, extraordinary, mind-shattering… How do you even being to describe the experience of a giant 40-foot long whale swimming right up to your boat, looking you in the eye and communicating very clearly that they want you to put your hand in the water so that they can push up against it to get stroked. Having a whale look you directly in the eye is an experience that nobody ever forgets. And… It’s not just the adults, the calves are unbelievably cute and and playful and will steal your heart.

San Ignacio Lagoon Gray Whales

Ultimate Whale Shark
Sea of Cortez

Season: June to October // 8 Days, 7 Nights

Every year, between 80 and 220 whale sharks visit a remote bay in the northern sea of Cortez giving us the most splendid interaction found anywhere in the world. With virtually no other boats around, we get these giants all to ourselves for as long as we want. It is a very unique opportunity to experience interaction with these animals own their terms guided by local panga captains. This adventure truly samples the best of the Sea of Cortez from La Paz to Loreto National Park to the extremely remote Isla San Pedro Martir where we have a unique permit to go ashore.

Mobula Rays & Orcas – Sea of Cortez

Season: Mid-March to Mid-July – varying length trips

Joyful, jumping flying mobula Rays are resident year-round in the Sea of Cortez but start aggregating in large numbers late every winter. Getting in the water with hundreds or thousands of these gentle 4 to 5 ft rays is a very special experience, and spring to mid-July is the best time to see them. The Sea of Cortez is brimming with life this time of year; super-friendly California sea lions, huge pods of dolphins, fin whales (second in size only to giant blue whales), giant schools of fish swirling like tornadoes, and much more. Early in the season, there are blue whales and loads of humpback whales, and later we often see whale sharks. BUT our overriding ambition on these trips is to be present when mighty orcas (killer whales) appear. We will be searching hard for them.

Cocos Island of the Sharks

Season: August to September // 11 Days, 10 Nights

Cocos—just the name elicits a knowing smile from experienced divers. Known as the ‘Island of the Sharks,’ it’s not just about the famous schooling hammerheads where the sharks come to you, but a tiny tropical rainforest oasis in the eastern Pacific. Here, you’ll encounter loads of white-tip reef sharks, marble rays, tiger sharks, and the ever-fascinating lobster and octopus. Of course, there are schools of juvenile horse-eyed jacks and hundreds of creole fish gathering together.

Mexico Sardine Run

Season: Mid-October to January // 8 Days, 7 Nights
