Captain Mike

Where decades of experience meet stories, trip updates, and a whole lot of love for the ocean.

Mike Lever is the founder of Nautilus Liveaboards, veteran dive pro, and the guy who has set the gold standard for safe and unforgettable dive expeditions in the Pacific.

Mike’s journey started in the icy waters of British Columbia, back when patched-up drysuits, steel tanks, and post- dive whiskey were part of the dive plan. He fell in love with the underwater world early on. That passion led him to become a dive instructor while still working full-time as a commercial pilot. But the ocean soon became his full- time focus.

The first Nautilus adventures began over 27 years ago in the wild, current-swept waters of BC. Over time, the operation moved south to Baja California, Mexico. Nautilus was among the first to pioneer diving at Socorro. Mike spent more than 20 years captaining liveaboards in the Sea of Cortez, Socorro, and Guadalupe Island

He is also the inventor of the Nautilus Marine Rescue GPS, a device that has already helped save lives around the world.

On the Nautilus blog, Mike shares behind-the-scenes stories, updates on new trips or changes, and plenty of practical advice. He is big on safety and always ready with tips to help divers get the most out of every adventure, from how to prepare to what to expect.

Expect honest insights, big ocean energy, and just the right amount of dad jokes
