Marine Operations Manager

Nautilus is recruiting for the position of Manager of Marine Operations. The successful candidate must have experience in the transportation sector and must be willing and able to fully commit to the importance of process and safety management systems. They must show absolute attention to detail while also being comfortable with an ever-changing environment that can be chaotic. Nautilus is a world leader in the liveaboard dive industry operating overnight passenger vessels ranging in size from 55 to 147 feet with very high utilization and fast turnarounds. We are looking for someone who has a proven track record as a manager, can makes fast and thoughtful decisions and will not be afraid to make those tough decisions. We need someone who is flexible, comfortable working in a flat management structure and shows excellent use of common sense. The chosen individual should be able to “read” fellow managers and staff and bring out the best of their abilities. The chosen individual must be an excellent communicator, have great listening skills and know how to get things done. We are looking for a confident, self-starter who works well with a team with an eye towards the future. The successful candidate should be a person who is more of a generalist than a specialist.

The position is based in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and the successful candidate will be reporting to the company President. The team this individual will work with includes: Captains, Director of Shore Operations, Director Safety and Training, Comptroller (Mexico), Information Technology (IT), Refit Manager, Finance (Vancouver), Vancouver Operations and Manager Baja Expeditions. This individual’s direct reports include the maintenance managers.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: day-to-day operations of all vessels; liaison with all the Captains; monitoring the dive and hotel activities, maintenance deficiencies and problems; paperwork and certificates required for vessel operations (excluding permits required by Mexican authorities); maintenance coordinator working with refit and maintenance managers. The successful candidate will have oversight of all dive operations, cosmetic condition of all vessels, food service (not provisioning), gift shops and bars.
