SAN IGNACIO LAGOON + SAILING

The first part of your trip takes you to San Ignacio Lagoon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a protected gray whale sanctuary, where thousands of gray whales visit each season. This is the ultimate destination for up-close encounters with friendly gray whales.

With perfect sailing weather in April, the second part of your adventure takes you to the Sea of Cortez, one of the most diverse seas on the planet!

Expect incredible marine life sightings, including thousands of schooling mobula rays, playful sea lions, humpbacks, and so much more!

By April, gray whale calves are stronger, playful, and full of curiosity, often swimming up to boats with their moms for adorable close-up moments. It’s their learning phase, as mothers teach them all the survival tricks they’ll need for the big migration to the Arctic.

The Sea of Cortez is teeming with life! Mobula rays are present year-round, but from March to July, they gather in massive, breathtaking schools that are unforgettable to witness.

It’s also a fantastic time to spot humpbacks, fin whales, dolphins, sea lions, and, if you’re lucky, even blue whales, whale sharks or orcas!
