Captain’s Noon Report – Gallant Lady – 2021-05-27

Location: Right now we are anchored in the north west part of Cerralvo channel, just south of Punta Coyote on the east side of San Lorenzo channel.

Weather: Water temp was 26C and Viz around 15-20m, really nice for this time of the year.

It’s a beautiful evening, calm and clear. We’ve got lots of mobulas in this area so we have the lights set up and hoping for a potential mobula night dive tonight. Last night we anchored for the night at El Saltito, about 5nm south of here, after a really nice late afternoon dive at La Reina. Yesterday we started with a morning dive at Punta Perico in the bahia de los muertos. A very nice dive with lots of nudi’s, some sting rays, very fishy, a turtle. During the day yesterday the guests had a good in-water encounter with some bottlenose dolphins and a few mobulas. The dive at la reina was beautiful with lots of fish, nudis, some sealions. Water temp was 26C and Viz around 15-20m, really nice for this time of the year. Around noon we headed back to do an afternoon dive at el saltito which was actually very nice. Lot of sting rays, a couple turtles, lots of nudi’s, the guests enjoyed it. Before we got in for the dive we did see what looked like a lone, juvenile humpback breaching (full breaches!) and tail slapping about a mile from where we were anchored. Our plan for tomorrow is to head to the east cape/frailles area and search there, getting a dive in at Gordo banks probably in the morning to start while we’re down there, and a night dive to finish the day at Frailles. Stay anchored there for the night and last day diving at pulmo and area.
