Andrew – It was the first time I ever saw a boat vertical in the water – I came up on it and it was huge and sticking straight up over the ledge at 120 feet.
Mike – Diving in muck beneath a crumbling dock may not be everyone’s idea of fun, but if you didn’t do today’s dive at Buttedale you missed out on ratfish, a longfin gunnel, and the sweetest little grunt sculpin. I was also pleased to see that Bert, the resident dog of the island, is still there and that the fish hook that was in his nose on our last visit five years ago has been removed.
Heute haben wir die Transpac betaucht: ein phantastischer Tauchgang mit Sichtweiten von sicherlich 20 Meter. Ein beeindruckendes Wrack, welches im 90 Gradwinkel senkrecht auf dem Heck steht. Eine tolle Kulisse! Der 2. Tauchgang direkt vor dem verlassenen Fischerdorf Butedale war ein “muck dive” im Muell vor den alten verfallenen Docks: wir sahen im Muell allerlei Kleinvieh, der Hoehepunkt waren etwa 10 Chimaeren, beeindruckende Gestalten, von denen wir dachten, dass sie nur in der Tiefsee vorkommen! Einfach unglaublich!
