Guest blog – Hammerheads and Roca Partida Dec. 21/09

Larry: So the first dive of the trip on the Nautilus Explorer and I’m about to jump in but my drysuit malfunctions – the crew was extremely helpful in getting me in the water with another exposure suit and afterward assisted me with fixing the drysuit.  A professional and attentive crew to say the least.
Larry: I saw a school of 15 to 17 Hammerhead Sharks at the south end cleaning station at Roca Partida.  An exhilarating experience, especially since I was alone with them and a little scary too I guess.  But after settling in and watching them, I felt much more comfortable and this was probably the highlight of my diving this week in Socorro.  Also I feel it is important to say that I not only beat Divemaster Dan at crib but I skunked him!
Juan: The Boiler is quite the ride.  I don’t know if it was my highlight but I’ll probably be talking about that dive the longest.  Strong swell and current was worth it for all the marine life it bought in: Hammerhead Sharks, Manta Rays, Dolphins and lots of Whitetip Sharks.
