After 30 hours of passage from Cabo to the first island, Los Cuevitas was the first one to greet our 24 ‘hungry’ divers. Fantastic first dive with masses of gigantic langoustes and colorful lobsters, two playful turtles and a wonderful couple of dolphins (mum and calf) who went straight through our group. The first dive was topped of nicely with our very first Giant Manta of the trip. You can’t ask for anything else.
The third dive of the day was at the epic ‘El Boiler’, a world-famous dive site many of us had been waiting for. It didn’t let us down, with 4 playful Giant Mantas spending a generous 40 minutes with our group, showing all of their proverbial curiosity that is such a characteristic trait of the mantas of Socorro. We watched them swoosh past time and again, either barrel-rolling inches from our faces or simply flying past us with their unforgettable grace and slow moving wings. The dive was topped off nicely with a Black Manta joining in, who was so uniquely BLACK, that it was almost impossible to successfully take a picture of him. Before the dive Luis told us: ‘This is what you came here for!!!’. He couldn’t have been more correct.
