Captains Noon Report – Explorer – 2018-08-06

Location: Monkey Face East Guadalupe Island
Weather: Temp 77 Water Temp 72

Best day of the season with Bright Sunny Skies and no clouds anywhere. Woke up to a beautiful sky filled with stars early this morning. We were treated to fantastic sunrise rising up over the azure deep. The best thing is that we are all alone out here. We have the island to ourselves which means the sharking has been absolutely incredible from the beginning of the morning. We have had five sharks around the submersibles the entire morning with countless passes at the surface cages. Kenric, my personal favorite shark has come around with his nice a slow close passes around the deep cages. A school of 10 -15 yellow fin tuna circled on the outside blue then charging through under the boat feeding off what seems to be the endless numbers of smelt and mackerels that use our cages as shelter. Yellow tails stay and the surface dashing into the middle of the small bait fish as well. Tough to be a bait fish out here. We sea a group of 6 to 7 young seal pups make a dash to the shore from the deep coming in from a late night feeding session. The weather is absolutely perfect today. The guests are getting their last day in until we head back to Ensenada later today.
