Captain’s Noon Report – Under Sea – 2020-02-18

Weather: Winds E 4-8 kts, swell 2-4 ft NW, Blue and sunny day, Visibility around 60 ft, Water Temperature 71F and medium current to the E
Status: The Canyon, San Benedicto Island

Yesterday the last two dives at the Boiler were great. The third dive the conditions changed a little, almost no current, visibility around 20-25 m and the temperature around 21 C. Our divers could see at least 3 different chevron mantas and they could also see around 5 hammerheads. The last dive was a little better, light current to the S, 20 m visibility. There was one dolphin for the last dive yesterday, one chevron manta and one black manta around the whole dive. They also saw some oceanic black tips and some galapagos sharks. Today we started in the Canyon with galapagos and silvertips at the cleaning station. There were five dolphins with one of the groups and four hammerheads. During the second dive today, visibility got better. All the groups could see a school of big hammerheads (around 12), one chevron manta and some galapagos and silvertip sharks. One of the groups could also see a big tiger shark!
