Captain’s Noon Report – Gallant Lady – 2020-10-07

Location: Las Animas

Weather: Light breeze, less than a foot swell, very warm

After diving with some playful sea lions at Los Islotes yesterday afternoon we enjoyed our famous taco night and watched a beautiful sea of Cortez sunset as we slowly made our way north to Las Animas. We arrived around 2230 and spent the night at anchor and have completed 2 dives here this morning. Both dives have been really good with lots of fish life. One diver caught a brief glimpse of a hammerhead going by but other than that it’s been all about the smaller fish life. Water is warm and clear with temps in the mid to high eighties. A thermocline down deep offers some colder green water where a lot of the fish are hanging out. Current is mild. Two more dives here this afternoon and potentially a night dive as well, then heading 100NM north to San Ildefonso.
