Captain’s Noon Report – Gallant Lady – 2020-10-18

Location: Isla Coronado at Loreto, Punto Gorda, Cabo Pearce

Status: Visibility is 60ft, Water temp 85F

Beautiful, calm, sunny, and light breeze anchored on the NE part of Isla Coronado today at Loreto Bay park. Yesterday afternoon we did two dives on the East side of San Marcos at Punta Gorda. Transit overnight was pleasant and we arrived at Coronado just after 0700. Two dives done so far, both really good. Water temp is 85F, viz is about 60 feet. We are diving the lava flows that poke out from the island a la Cabo Pearce. There are several of them within a mile of each other, with strong currents at the tips bringing in lots of fish, cow-nose rays and eagle rays. On each side of the points we have calm bays sheltered from the current to start and finish the dive with lots of cool jaw-fish, blennies and nudi’s to get your macro fix. On the last dive there were several sea lions cruising around the divers as well. Tonight we are heading to Las Animas and spend the day there tomorrow.
