Captain’s Noon Report – Under Sea – 2021-02-11

Location: Today we have been diving at Punta Tosca.

Weather: was dark and cloudy this morning with moderate wind from the North 8-12kts. It has brightened up a lot with nice blue skies above, with light cloud cover surrounding Socorro. The wind is slightly less at 6-10kts.

We have conducted two dives so far. Dive conditions for both dives were the same with a mild current from East to West, 10-15m visibility and 22-23°C water temperature. Dive one and both groups had encounters with a couple of dolphins. Although not many in numbers they were very friendly and apparently it was an incredible close up encounter. Some guests were left in tears. It was a beautiful moment. There was also 3 chevron Mantas which cruised by, 1 very large scalloped Hammerhead shark and a Tiger shark. Very good dive. Dive 2 was a bit quieter but the groups still saw up to 3 Mantas cruise by unfortunately they did not want to stick around to play. The usual reef fish, plenty of lobsters and White Tips and not so many Clarion like last week. We are planning a third dive here at Punta Tosca before heaving the anchor and heading to the Navy base for inspection. Then onwards to Cabo Pearce to drop the hook, for the night, the Silky snorkel and tomorrows diving. All guests and crew are doing great!
