Captain’s Noon Report – Under Sea – 2021-02-23

Location: Vessel at anchor, at The Canyon, Position 19°17.649′ N 110°48.618’W

Weather: Clear blue skies, with light wind from N (0-2 kts), the water here at the canyon is totally flat, no swell at all.

Yesterday the last dive was good, we did a mellow tour after the Navy check, which was a success by the way, but before that, the 3rd dive was good but the current started getting strong, not too much but considerably more than before. Today we started this lovely day with a really good dive where dolphins stole the show, they were playing on the surface with our guests. This was magic, these lovely animals always surprise you. The guests had up to 20 dolphins around continuously harassing the Jacks and swimming around the divers. The dolphins were more focused on the hunt but were not put off by the divers presence and stayed for the entire dive. When the divers surfaced they removed their weights and BCD´s and snorkelled with the dolphins for another 30 minutes. The dolphins were much more curious with the divers on the surface. The visibility was good around 45 ft, very light current, and for the 2nd dive that was wonderful. We had a school of hammerheads(around 20 or 30 of them),silver tips , and our guests saw a Chevron manta and the dolphins showed up again for a short period too. Water Temp: 23°C. After this dive all of our guests asked us to finish diving the day here at the Canyon. All guests and crew are doing great!
