Captain’s Noon Report – Explorer – 2021-04-17

Location: Anchored at San Benedicto (The Canyon)

Status: 170 Ft of water below us and 3.5 shackles of chain out in the water.

Weather: Windy morning here at San Benedicto, 8-10 kts from NW that increased to 10-12 Kts as the day got older. Swell from the same direction remained the same 1-3 Ft. Sky was partially clouded but it cleared as sun made its way up.

Our first dive of the morning we skiffed and dropped divers at a shallower area for the buoyancy check dive, we loaded some extra weights on the skiff and headed to shallower waters. Buoyancy check dive was good, few galapagos were around and some white tips. For our second dive we skiffed and dropped divers at Manta Rock, divers encountered hammerheads, galapagos, silvetipis, white tips, silkys and 4 dolphins. Viz for both dives was around 40-55 Ft and water temperature around 23C for both dives too. Mild current for both dives from east to west. The M/V Cassiopeia is just arriving to the dive site. All guests and crew doing great!
