Captain’s Noon Report – Explorer – 2021-06-01

Location: Anchored at Roca Cabo Pearce

Weather: Cloudy sky with moderate wind and smooth sea (1-3ft swell NE)

110ft of water below the Nautilus Explorer and 3.5 shackles of chain out in the water. The crossing from Roca to Cabo Pearce was pretty mellow. Just this morning we had strong wind when we were changing the course to the north of Socorro (after the navy base) and as soon as we arrived at the anchor area the wind just stopped and we are well protected by the Pearce Bay. Yesterday our last dive at Roca was pretty mellow – beautiful reef fish all around the rock and many sharks around. We finished our day with a beautiful sunset. Our guests were happy drinking good wine while they were watching the sunset. Today we started the day with an amazing dive. We had about 15 dolphins swimming around, hammerhead sharks and three manta rays! Cabo Pearce is a very good spot during this time of the season. Water temperature 21°C, light current from the N and for the second dive, the first 20 min were kind of quiet but suddenly four mantas just appeared in front of us and made this dive a great experience for everybody.

Visibility: 30ft. Water Temperature: 21°C with light current.
