Captain’s Noon Report – UnderSea – 2021-06-07

Location: Anchored at The Canyon (19.17.755N – 110.48.592W)

Weather: Calm Seas. No Wind. No Current.

After a full night of sleep, the guests were ready this morning to jump in the ocean so after a continental breakfast and a full briefing they started to enter the water from the dive platform. Divemaster Stein put his face in the water to check on his divers as they performed weight checks and within seconds, he began shouting, “Tiger Shark!”. Just two minutes in the water and a medium size tiger shark went right past the group. It headed down to the bottom, scouting the sand flats of leather bass alley, then at the end of the dive, one of the groups saw two dolphins who wanted to play and stayed with them for a couple of minutes.

The second dive was even better. Two of the groups saw a chevron manta ray at the end of their dive just hovering on top of manta rock. They were coming from the cleaning station, after seeing a small group of hammerhead sharks. There was a group on the second dive lucky enough to see a pod of 8 dolphins guarding two babies.

Water Temperature: 77°F
