Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2023-12-06

Good afternoon, everyone, NEX anchored in Roca Partida, northerly wind 15 kts, NW swell 6ft, 240 ft depth, 4,5 shots paid out.

We ended yesterday diving in Manta Highway, our last dive was slow but still got a few manta action. We arrived here this morning and so far, we have done 2 dives and dive number 3 is going on.

First dive of the morning was pretty good. As soon as we dropped off the divers on the NE side of the rock, a pod of dolphins showed up and stayed with the guests for at least 30 good minutes, and also mantas showed up. By dive number 2 dolphins were gone but still have the mantas.

All the groups did see 2 mantas and today Pascal’s group was the lucky one. In guests’ words, they said that 4 mantas stayed with them the whole dive. Also, during these dives, the divers saw many white tips, silver tips, tuna fish, and some scattered wahoos. Viz was good and the water temperature was around 28 Celsius, it’s very likely that we stay here for one more day. If that happens, I will move to the undersea tonight.
