Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2024-07-12

Gerardo Pasos Hern Hola, NEX is at San Pedro Martir Island, anchored in position Lat N. 28° 23.45’ Long. W- 112° 18.13’. On the North end of the island. Weather is excellent, scattered clouds in the sky, wind blowing from SE 10 – 15 kt. Temperature 32°C.

Water conditions better than Coronados Island, visibility about 12 – 15 m. Temperature 28°C in the surface and a thermocline of 22°C, not bad. Moderate current going W.

We arrived at the island at 10:15 am. And as soon we got here, we started to dive. One dive before lunch and 2 more after.

The first dive in the morning was good, the guests saw a lot of life among the rocks. Hundreds of sea lions in the water and on the rocks, it’s still mating season. They saw many nudibranchs, a sea horse, many star fish, corals many kinds of rays too. The divers came back to the boat happy. The second dive after lunch was better, even with more current, the diver saw more life. More reef fish, the sea lions playing around getting closer to the divers, different kinds of rays in the bottom, and so more.
