Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2024-07-13

Hi everyone. The NEX is anchored at Position Lat. N. 28° 23.31’ Long. W. 112° 18.75’ Northwest end of San Pedro Island, today is windy, strong wind coming from SE about 15 – 18 kt. The sea here is calm because it’s protected but outside of the island, it looks very choppy. The sky is scattered cloudy, and air temperature is 30°C.

Water in this area looks good for diving, temperature on surface is 29.5°C but under water is 24°C. No current at all. Visibility is about 10 – 12 m. We’ve done 2 dives in the morning.

The first one was very good, the divers saw many juvenile sea lions playing along the coast, also many nudibranchs and sea horses. Several kinds of rays and someone saw a sea cucumber. Also, they saw a small Black Coral Forest close to the north point.

The second dive was also beautiful, there were many nudibranchs, more sea lions and reef fish everywhere, viz was also great. Low current going northward the guests could also see a lot of sea life in the dive site. The returned to the boat happy with the dive.
