Captainโ€™s Noon Reports โ€“ Gallant Lady โ€“ 2024-08-09

Hi everyone, The NGL is in La Animas Island,

Today weather is great, Sunny day. A little windy in the morning, wind blowing from west at 12 – 14 Kt. Air temperature 32ยฐC. Clear sky. Water conditions are better than yesterday in San Francisquito Island. Water is green and visibility is not too bad, about 15 – 20 m. Temperature is 23ยฐC and current moderate to north, not too strong and decreasing.

We have done 2 dives in the morning.

The first one was in the North end of the island and the Rock in that side. And, we had 4 snorkelers there too. The divers made a tour from the north tip of the island to the rock and returned to the place where they started. The saw many reef fish, eels, some electric bullsโ€™ eye rays, sea lions playing in the water, corals.

And a school of needle fish. The snorkelers were close to the island, watching the sea lions, there were many juveniles playing along the shore. There were also many reef fish and corals where they were.

In the second dive, we dove in the East Rock, we found a pod of bottle nose dolphins between the island and the rock, but they didnโ€™t let us get close. Every time we tried to approach, they ran away. So, we went to dive and to set the snorkelers in the water close to the shore in the south east side of the island. The diver dive around the pinnacle. This dive was a little slow. They saw lots of reef fish, corals, sea few sea lions that were close to the rock. Water got a little turbid and that reduced the visibility a little. But they could see some electric rays, and a couple of morays. The snorkelers stayed close to the rocks watching the sea lions playing around them.
