Captainโ€™s Noon Reports โ€“ Belle Amie โ€“ 2024-08-13

Belle Amie is anchored on the south side of SPM today. Wind is easterly 10kts with 1-2ft chop, clear sky and hot. Air temp around 37C. Diving conditions excellent, viz 15-20m, water temp 27C at the surface down to 24C at 90ft. Current is strong.

We had a great taco night last night after San Ildefonso and a smooth transit overnight. We took our time for the 115NM transit to arrive around 0930 and will do 3 day plus a night dive today.

First dive we just completed at the small islet at the SE corner of SPM and it was amazing! Best dive ever in the sea of Cortez for most of our guides.

There was a school of hammerheads, estimates of 50-60 maybe, but for some groups they had them around for most of the dive, swimming along the bottom of the reef, through the black coral and among the reef fish. All divers got to see some hammerheads, many of the divers saw the big numbers. All guests excited about the dive. Will stay here for the afternoon and then move to the sheltered side for our night dive.
