We had a terrific 2024 mobulas and orca season. We now believe there are at least 3 pods of orcas that are resident year-round in the Sea of Cortez. Not just around La Ventana, but further north as well. In fact, we saw one pod feeding off loreto just yesterday, Sept 10 and then again this morning.
Sadly we had one trip in 2024 with no orcas, but the following week, we encountered orcas 5 days in a row! It’s a pleasure to share above the following rare and super interesting film from our Nautilus Gallant Lady, showing orcas hunting mobula rays, filmed and produced by our friend Carlos Guana. His work has been featured in National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and BBC, he was one of the first photographers to capture sea life from above using drones. His work and YouTube channel help bring awareness to wildlife and nature. It’s always a pleasure to work with him and we love his videos. Enjoy!
