NEX at anchor at San Benedicto Canyon on 50 ft on water, 2.5 shots out. Weather conditions: North Wind 20+ kts, seas 1-2 ft and 1-3 ft swell coming from the SW of the island. Clear sky. Lot of dust and ashes from the island. Air temp is 22C. Weather last night calmed down a bit and turned from North so we have it on the stern that made the ride a bit more comfortable.
This morning we have done 2 dives. First dive at Fondeadero, divers jumped from the back deck, it was a good check dive, all divers adjusted their weights. They could see a couple of hammerheads after they went down, also a couple of mantas and a big Galapagos. For one of the groups mantas were almost the whole dive with them. There was a strong current to SW though. Viz was 15 mts and water temp 23C.
Second dive was at the Canyon, lot of sharks, Felipe´s group could see a school of around 50 hammerheads, plus some blacktips and silkies. Xavi´s group saw a big tiger shark, he said it was a female. Viz was 10-15 mts because of the ashes and water temp was 23C. The strong current to SW was still present.
On the surface is all dusty and full of ashes. You have to drive the skiff with googles or you will get dirty in your eyes. We´re having a good day though. NEX anchor holding strong. Crew and guests doing fine.
