Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2025-04-11

NEX at anchor at the Boiler on 115 ft of water, 2.5 shots out. It´s a nice weather today, light winds from NW and long period swell 3 ft, it is sunny today but we have a light breeze that chill out the day, air temp 23C.

We moved the Explorer this morning from the Canyon to the Boiler. We have done 2 dives so far, good dives with lot of mantas and lot of reef fishes.

First dive there were 4-5 mantas around the rock, lot of fishes and few sharks. viz wasn’t so good 15-20 mts and there was a bit cold, 21C. There was a strange light current going everywhere around the rock. Every diver had the opportunity to interact closely with the mantas.

Second dive viz got better, 20+ mts, there still was the light current and temperature 21c, this time we had more activity, mantas, a few dolphins that came by, and a small school of hammerheads, there was also a huge yellowfin tuna that was swimming next to a few hammerheads that made the hammerhead look small next to the tuna. It has been a good day today.

Yesterday afternoon at the Canyon, last dive was crazy, a lot of sharks swimming around the cleaning station, silkies, Galapagos, a couple of them huge, Silvertips, hammerheads, and a tiger shark, also a couple of mantas, last dive was the best dive of yesterday.
