Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2025-05-30

NEX at anchor at Punta Tosca, Socorro Island on 80 ft of water, 3 shots out, Wx: N´ly 20+ kts winds, Seas are most calm, little 1 ft or less white caps made by the wind and a barely notable long period swell. Cloudy sky, with intermittent rain, Air temp 21C. Water temp 22C.

Arrived last night to Punta Tosca together with NUS, dropped anchor inner the bay. Wind started to blow this morning, but it has been ok. NEX anchor holding strong. Off the point seas are 4-5 ft. Wind is blowing 20 kts and sometimes calm down.

We have done 2 dives in Punta Tosca.

First dive was a moderate current to the west. We started diving on the first finger and ended up off the point. Dive was good, everyone saw 1-2 Mantas some sharks, turtles, reef fishes. 2 guests they saw a baby whale shark. Viz was 15 mts and temperature 22C.

Second dive was good too, one of the groups has a manta for 40 minutes, they saw 2 mantas. they were also a lot of sea turtles and school of fishes, some shark, silkies and whitetips. On this dive current was light to the west and viz got a little bit better 15-18 mts. Expecting wind to increase this afternoon as per the weather forecast.

We will be keeping an eye on the forecast. By now everything is going well.
