Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2025-06-25

NEX at anchor in Cayon on 53ft depth, 2 shots out. Gentle winds 4-5kts NW, Swell 1-2 ft, cloudy day, Air temp 22C, Water temp 21C, Current from NE, Viz 15-20mts.

We arrived in the Canyon under a blanket of stars last night, dropped anchor. The first dive of the day was nothing short of breathtaking: a thrilling encounter with 5 to 6 majestic tiger sharks gliding effortlessly through the deep, followed by a surreal moment with a school of seven hammerheads cutting through the blue. And just when they thought it couldn’t get better, a playful pod of dolphins danced around us during the safety stop.

The second dive took our breath away again no currents, just serenity. At the cleaning station, massive Galapagos sharks, joined by curious white tips.

We’ve got two more dives planned here in the Canyon, and spirits are sky-high. This evening, it’s cheese and wine before we begin our northbound journey.
