Yesterday afternoon we departed from API dock from la Paz and arrived to Pichilingue bay in front of Cantamar. After departure we made our way to Punta Coyote, arrived there before midnight.
Guests boarded the boat at 1830 hrs yesterday and they were super excited. This morning we started with the general and dive briefing and just after that we received the report from a humpback whale breaching south of Cerralvo.
We boarded guests to the pangas and they departed in search for whales, after that we took the anchor up and started to follow them. When following the pangas, I spotted some blows and some fins coming out the water, couldn’t distinguish what it was, I went closer and found a big pod of pilot whales.
They were very calm they even were just alongside the boat just chilling. The pangas came back right away. Great for start the trip. Guests still in the pangas having fun.
