NUS Searching for Orcas and Mobulas near la Ventana and Cerralvo island. Wind ESE 14-18 kts, 2-3 ft Seas. Air Temp. 33 C, mostly clear sky, some clouds in the horizon.
This morning we started to search from Punta Gorda to la Ventana and 8 NM east of Punta arenas, unfortunately we didn’t find anything despite weather condition were much better than yesterday.
There were some reports for Rizzo dolphins 10 NM east of Punta Arena, but we couldn’t find anything. We took guests to snorkel in Cueva del Leon between Punta Perico and Punta arena to get them a refresh from the sun. Everyone is back on board and now they are having lunch.
This afternoon we will go out again to search up north. Tonight we will depart to las animas to dive there the whole day and start our trip up north to Bahia de los Angeles.
Yesterday evening we took guests to search north along Cerralvo island coast, they went up to la Reyna and did snorkel there, there were 2 mantas around, but the best and quick part was that unexpectedly a humpback whale showed up on the surface really close from one of the pangas and then it took a dive, some guests jumped to the water to see the whale but only a couple were able to see the whale.
After that we went to anchor near Punta Gorda. we put the lights in the water for a chance that mobula comes, but no luck. We havent seen mobulas in a couple of weeks.
