Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2025-08-10

Anchor in Wafer bay, cloudy day with loads of rain, air temperature is 80F, in this side of the island ocean is flat, no wind at all, the dives have been amazing.

we dove Manuelita Deep and Dos Amigos Pequeño both dives with tons of hammerhead sharks, Galapagos, dolphins, hundreds of white tip reef sharks, marble rays, eagle rays and the usual cast of reef fish.

Visibility varies a lot depending on depth and the site you dive in but averaging 70Ft of water, ocean temperature today averaging 80F, mild current in Manuelita and a huge surge in Dos Amigos Pequeño.

Still the dives are amazing and loaded with action, guests are very sad as this is our last day of diving.

Yesterday afternoon we dove the garden in Manuelita both of the groups, the place was loaded, hammers, white tip reef sharks by the dozens, an orange frog fish, a black tip reef shark, an oceanic black tip shark, a black manta.

We were just cruising by when a thunder like sound scared all of the fish. This is the sound of the fish running away for dear life being hunted by the trevally jacks. The creole fish have no chance when the trevally chase after them, trevallies are very fast.

Also we found a rock where a Hog fish had his harem of females he would close in to one of the girls, make some kind of dance shoot to the surface and mate he did it like 8 times while we were watching (lucky guy).

In first dive we got on the boat I was driving today, as soon as we start moving Katherine said she had no air in her tank, the Allison said no air, Carole said the same thing and Ana joined, then the guys were saying the same exact thing.

I had smoke coming out of my ears, frustration in my face and a knot in my stomach I aged 20 years. Right there then they all laughed and sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BETO. (sigh) they got me this time.
