Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2026-01-17

NEX at anchor in Canyon, San Benedicto Island, rainy weather conditions today, cloudy day, air temperature 22C, SE 9-12 kts winds, 4-6 ft waves. Water condition, water temp. around 24C, visibility 10-12 mts.

Hello everyone.

Yesterday, the dives at Boiler were beautiful, as always, with chevron manta rays and black mantas dancing in front of the divers. The school of hammerhead sharks reappeared in the afternoon during one of the dives.

Ivan, the DG in training, gave a very interesting presentation; he’s a biologist and you can learn a lot from him. The guests were delighted with the street taco night, but unfortunately, due to the rain, we couldn’t hold it outside.

It rained all night, and the weather was somewhat rough, but as the morning progressed, it improved considerably. It’s still cloudy, but it’s no longer raining. We’re hoping for an improvement in the forecast.

Today, the divers managed to see a school of 12-15 hammerhead sharks, a pair of dolphins stalking a ball of bait, and spotted around 10 whitetip reef sharks, silvertip reef sharks and Galapagos sharks, all gathered and circling around the cleaning station.

Crew and guests doing fine.
