Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2026-01-25

NEX at anchor in Cayon, San Benedicto Island, excellent weather conditions today, NW 8-10 kts winds, 2 ft waves, Sunny day, air temperature 29C.

Hello everyone, yesterday, to everyone’s surprise, a whale shark approached the boat, swam around it, and then followed the skiffs to the dive site, where it put on a show with the manta rays.

After the third dive, everyone returned excited with spectacular photos and videos. Although it was raining during the third and fourth dives, everyone was eager to go for more adventure in the Boiler.

After finishing operations, we weighed anchor and moved to Cañon where we spent the night. Mariana DG gave a very comprehensive presentation on whale sharks, and her enthusiasm for the subject was evident.

Although the rain had stopped, I didn’t take the risk of having taco night on the sundeck, but they still enjoyed their Street Taco Night with their beer bucket.

This morning, the two dives were incredible. First, there was at least 30 meters of visibility without much current, a school of at least 17-20 hammerheads at the cleaning station, and they also saw a tiger shark. There are an excessive number of silvertips, Galapagos, and whitetip sharks.

We plan to do another dive in the Canyon and then in Tres Hermanos.

Crew and guests doing fine.
