Weather: Sunny day, clear sky. Air temp 32C, calm winds, E’ly swell 2 ft, seas like a mirror
We are searching for whales around Agua Verde and San Cosme,
This morning in the San José Channel, we spotted two whales early on. Unfortunately, we couldn’t clearly identify whether they were blue whales or fin whales, as they were moving quickly and there were whitecaps on the sea.
Shortly after, we encountered a small pod of dolphins and spent some time with them. Later, a bit farther north, we found two fin whales, but they were also traveling fast and were quite elusive.
One of the most amazing moments of the morning was spotting a thresher shark breaching at the surface. It made three jumps, and most of the passengers were able to see it, which was incredible.
Since then, things have been calm. Weather conditions have improved, and the sea is now like a mirror here between Agua Verde and San Cosme.
We’ll likely take the passengers to the beach so they can relax and enjoy some time there.
We departed from Pichilingue bay at 0230 hrs this morning. Wind was blowing strong from the south for most of the night, this mid-morning it improve. Guests embarked yesterday at 1900 hrs at Pichilingue, coming from Cozumel.
