We have just completed dive day 1 of our second white shark expedition of this Guadalupe season. We are the only liveaboard to cage dive at Guadalupe this early in the season and it’s so nice to enjoy the rugged beauty of this island without having to share the anchorage with any other boats! Day 1 today proved to hold another advantage, we didn’t have to share the whiteys with any other boats either. We enjoyed a great day with 2 as of yet unidentified males. I’m sure the guests are down below as I’m writing this comparing their pictures to our white shark ID book to try to find the names of our friends from today. The two males showed up around 9 am this morning while we were on our second submersible cage dive of the day, and we had one or the other with us until the last cage was closed.
On several dives one of the males circled the cages endlessly, and even nudged the cage curiously with his nose at one point. A very exhilarating feeling to be inside the cage with the nose of a White Shark only a couple feet away from you! Conditions were nice today, with the water feeling a little warmer than last week at around 19C (66F). Visibility was a little lower than normal and varied from around 50 ft to 90 ft at it’s best today. Looking forward to more white shark action tomorrow!
