Another day, another magical dive from the Nautilus Explorer- this time at Roca Partida. This small, twin-peaked, guano-covered pinnacle rises up from a depth of 11,000 feet and provides a home for so many different species of fish and sharks you could write an entire species ID book on it alone. First Mate Shaun and I jumped in for a quick dive in between guest dives and were almost immediately cruised by a very large and apparently curious silver tip shark, and throughout the dive we continued to be inspected by numerous Galapagos, silky and white tip sharks… Shaun caught a quick glimpse of a hammerhead too, but I was not so lucky. Throughout the dive, I was keeping a sharp lookout for the pod of dolphins and 2 giant mantas that were playing with our guests on an earlier dive, but it seems that was a morning show only… not that I’m complaining – each and every time I get in the water it is an incredible experience no matter which creatures come out to play. I can’t wait for the next one!
