Wow what an unreal week out at Guadalupe Island for any diver. The massive female White Sharks have been paying us visits down in the cages the last few trips and it sure has made this Divemaster feel small when looking eye to eye with them. We’ve had a 16-17 foot female come on multiple days and when she shows up the area around our submersible cages basically becomes her property, she simply runs the smaller males out. This changed the last 2 days out here though, another large female( covered in battle wounds including a nasty gash on her right side) decided to move in. Having the 2 sharks circle us has been a treat. As we were getting lowered for the last round of dives yesterday I could here stomps of excitement, I looked down and there were now 3 white sharks circling below. Defiantly going to miss this beauties and this island as the White Shark season comes to an end when they venture out into the Pacific. It hasn’t just been the Sharks that made these last few weeks so memorable though, it has been the people we’ve had on board. Getting to take such diving legends down in the cages such as Dr Sylvia Earle, Ernie Brooks and Zale Parry has been amazing. To look down and watch these diving pioneers enjoy the ocean for what it is has made us appreciate what we do even more. They’ve told amazing stories and even shared Sylvia’s new movie Mission Blue on our sun deck theater screen under the stars. Great times with the Great Whites and Guadalupe. -DM Jesse
