Captains Noon Report – Explorer – 2018-06-17

Location: 22.24.0n 110.01.6w
Weather: Winds WNW 15 Seas WNW 5 -7

Had a few dives at La Reina yesterday. Some sea lions around. The first dive was really nice with different species of fish feeding in the mild current. We departed right before sunset to Socorro and we were able to see a marlin or sailfin leap out of the water five times in a row in the waning sun light as the sea turned a burnt orange and red color. We are on our way to dive San Benedicto. Seas and winds picked up considerably as we left the protection of the Baja peninsula. We had to take a weather course because the seas would be beam on and we have 5 -7 footers coming through. Looking to make a turn in three hours or so to put the seas on our stern and calm things down. Making good time which is nice and we should be able to fit in four dives tomorrow. Guests are ready for hot giant manta action. Mexico beat Germany in the World Cup opener for each team so some of the crew is very happy. The Argentinian guests are sad about Messi missing the penalty kick again.
