The billowing clouds roll over the formidable mountain on our stern this morning. The air is cool and a light mist permeates our clothes and dampens our hair. The sea is calm. A small rise and fall of the bow in the minimal waves. A seagull perches on our bow post looming over the sea waiting to strike down into the water to catch the unsuspecting mackerel and smelt at the surface. We begin to wrangle as our first shark comes in right after 7am. There is a commotion out in the deeper water. A medium size white shark has fully breached in the deeper waters. A large splash is seen after it pounces down on the glassy waters. The guests that are awake and crew let out loud screaming of excitement and amazement. Soon we have four sharks swimming around us. We recognize a few of them right off the bat. One shark we have been seeing all this season is Luca Arrnone. This shark is quite energetic. The past few charters he has tried from all angles to take our baits. Things get exciting when Luca is around. We had my personal favorite, Kenric, a whimsical large male that really enjoys swimming around the submerisble cages and a new shark this season, Freckles. This shark gets it’s name from an ample amount of blotchy white patches it has on it’s midsection. The sharks have been consistent all this morning. We have yet again a handful of younger divers with their families. We have a traveling French family that brought their 4 and 1 year old onboard. Liam, the 4 year old has been able to drop down in the surface cages without problem and peer out from the cage and see the sharks. He is a little fish and with help from our staff he is doing very well. His father is so happy to be able to share this experience with his son. We had the best first morning of the season yesterday. The guests were all in the cages. The mid day all the guests were out of the cages with the sharks still around. The sharks stuck around all day but we had several open cages in the afternoon. This morning the same thing. few people to start and just a few in the cages. The sharks has been steady with four sharks around but hardly any guests in the submersibles and barely anyone in the surface cages. We had to do taco night inside last night. It was cool and misty and didn’t think people wanted to be upstairs in those conditions. Seems like guests got their fill of sharks now just lounging around relaxing.
