Captains Noon Report – Explorer – 2018-08-25

Location: Sweet Spot East Guadalupe Island
Weather: Hazy Blue Skies Air Temp 75f Water Temp 69-70f Vis an amazing 100+ ft.

The action has been non stop since first light. The seas have calmed with a small bump to it. The current that was pressing the whole day yesterday to the north has died to a mild movement. The sea is a glass plate with rippling undulations. They have come in big numbers today. Right as the cages opened at 0630 there was an attempt at the bait and ever since that moment the sharks haven’t stopped. Large sharks like Rhett and Andy who liked us yesterday have stuck around the boat from yesterday afternoon when it really picked up with Kenric, Andy, Joker and two other sharks cruising under the boat.. Yesterday afternoon had a lot of sharks but this morning there have been more. This season keeps getting better and better. The visibility is phenomenal. From the amazing new extended dive platform you can clearly see the anchor chain. Yellow tails and mackerel circle around our baits and the wranglers are doing a great job of keeping the surface cage photographers entertained. Crew is helping Michael with a photo shoot this afternoon. We had four big sharks coming up to the baits and one in the cages.
