Captain’s Noon Report – Under Sea – 2019-08-14

Location: Lat 29 08.89N Long 118 16.95W
Weather: Clear sunny skies, light wind, seas mostly calm. Visibility 90+ft, water temp 20-21C.
Status: Anchored at Guadalupe Island in 240 ft depth.

Arrived yesterday evening at Guadalupe at 1930 hrs and as soon we were at anchor we deployed the cages in the water. Just when we were abeam of the North point, there were 3 dolphins swimming fast to the boat and breaching. Then they kept swimming off the bow of the boat until we slowed down speed to to arrive to our anchorage position. This morning has been slow on shark action, we have seen 3-4 sharks so far. Surface action has been really slow as sharks swim under the cages and don’t look very interested in the bait. There was one point in submersible cages where they were able to see 3 different sharks at the same time. 2 sharks Identified so far is Jacques and Joker. Visibility is good, but is much better down in the submersible cages.
