Day two brought us to Roca Partida, the “cherry on the cake” (to quote our esteemed crew) of Socorro. The diving itself was lovely, with large schools of fish and numerous moray eels and well-endowed spiny lobsters. Everybody’s favorite was undoubtedly the copious piles of sleeping whitetip sharks. The rock was surrounded by several larger sharks, Galapagos, Silky, Silvertip, even Hammerheads sometimes ventured close enough for us to see without heading deep into the blue. A few fat yellowfin tunas joined us circling the rock. The weather made for some lively panga trips and everyone feels tired at the end of a long day.
