Captain’s Noon Report – Belle Amie – 2020-01-31

Location:
Weather: Winds NE 10 -12knots, Swell Calm in Bay, Water Temperature 26C, Visibility 60 -80 ft
Status: Canyon, San Benedicto

The afternoon sail during the last leg of San Benedicto was a delight. We arrived just after 11PM and we had dolphins creating a green glow on the bow as they swam next to the ship. The divers were treated to two of the best dives they have had ever. The first dive was at the lava fingers to the east. Guests counted up to 7 different mantas on the dive while a rather large Galapagos shark came close. Best check out dive ever!!! Second dive was some of the best diving you can get here. Three mantas, one all black and two chevrons gilded into the diver’s groups with grace of another world. The leviathans mingled and rose above then dove under our guests. Divers finally made it down to the cleaning station and waiting for them was a cornucopia of sharks. Big Galapagos, silver tips, hammerheads, oceanic blacktip and a tiger sharks hovered around by the station while divers were in underwater heaven with what their eyes were seeing. A majority of the group were able to see the husky tiger sharks very close. Lobsters and eels were secondary to the large attractions. One guests came up and was so excited that she said her dive was just like the advertisement she had seen.
