Captain’s Noon Report – Belle Amie – 2020-02-20

Location: Roca Partida
Weather: Winds N 3-5, Swell NNW 2-4 ft, Visibility 80 ft, Water Temperature 75 F
Status: Roca Partida

We have the rock to ourselves and it is gorgeous. Whales have been everywhere today and at the beginning of the first dive, we saw dolphins on the surface. More hammerheads, three or four mantas and big schools of yellowfin tuna were seen on the dives as well. Between dives, we found the pod of dolphins on the surface. We hopped into the dinghy and a handful of our divers were able to swim with the dolphins. Even more spectacular was that two of our divers saw a humpback whale on the north side of the rock during our second dive. They only saw it for 5 seconds but it has been the highlight of their trip. The whale crossed over the site right as we were dropping divers off. The mild current kept everyone looking out to the north, and to the diver’s delight, the whale came by. It has been two unforgettable days out here and we have had the site to ourselves all day.
