Captain’s Noon Report – Explorer – 2020-10-29

Location: Magdalena Bay

Status: Visibility 60+ft, water temparature 65-70F

This morning we did two dives at the North West corner of the main entrance to Magdalena bay on the way to Sea Wolf, which we are calling the sea lion colony. Both dives were pretty nice with one colder than the other, 65-68F on the first dive and 70F on the second dive. The second dive was loaded with the sea lions, both dives with loads of Garibaldi, some stingray, turtles, and a horn shark on both dives. The excitement was before guests went in the water and while doing the dive briefing, a bunch of sea lions came to the boat and were chasing after the mobulas. Some of the guests said they saw 50+ mobulas and if that was not enough three whales made their way within swimming distance from the boat, and with every breath the guests screamed and cheered for the whales, we believe they were humpbacks.
