Captain’s Noon Report – Gallant Lady – 2021-06-14

Location: Anchored at La Reina

Weather: Overcast, W Wind (5kts) and Swell (1-2ft)

We spent the late afternoon/evening yesterday searching for mobula rays around the San Lorenzo Channel, where they’ve been congregating on our previous trips but apparently they’ve moved on because there was very little mobula ray activity there.

Today we started searching from San Lorenzo Channel down to El Saltito in the morning, then met our pilot in the northern Cerralvo Channel for the airplane support search just past 11:00am. Unfortunately, the search didn’t turn up too much but we came across some dolphins, and a couple scattered mobula rays. This wind started to gust around 2:30pm and our pilot had to start heading back to La Paz.

We decided to come to La Reina to do one or two dives if the conditions are good. We are then going to search the east part of Cerralvo this evening to see if there are any mobula rays and/or whales in that area as we have not searched there yet.
