It’s manta madness at the moment in the Socorro Islands! We have seen these gentle giants on every site on this trip and our clients can’t seem to get enough of them!
Sometimes we can observe the manta rays being cleaned by the clarion angelfish, endemic fish to these islands. Other times, the manta rays are plentiful and engage in social behaviour by following each other and performing a courtship dance and, if we are really lucky, the manta rays engage with the divers. They enjoy being tickled by our bubbles and passing so close that they stare you in the eye intensely with a curious look.
They are amazing creatures and we just can’t get enough of them!
