Captain’s Noon Reports – Gallant Lady – 2021-10-18

Location: Las Animas

Weather: Sunny Skies and Moderate Wind (15-20kts)

We’re sitting nicely here and have two dives knocked off so far today.
The conditions underwater are excellent, with lots of fish life, playful sea lions, and a couple of hammerheads cruising by on the second dive.

Yesterday on dive three the divers dropped in on a small school of 10-12 hammerheads and had a nice little encounter. The fourth dive was also great, inside the little bay “El Corralito” with lots of young, playful sea lions. After dive four we had a great taco night while we cruised the 8NM over to the north-east side of Isla San Jose to anchor for the night, departing this morning at 0630 to arrive back at Las Animas for our first dive.

After today we have three dive days left. Tomorrow we’ve got more strong westerlies and northerlies again so we’ll probably head to Ensenada de Los Muertos and Punta Arena de la Ventana to have some easy reef diving tucked out of the weather, then finish with our last two days at Espiritu Santo.

Water temperature: 80°F

Visibility: 80-120ft
