Captain’s Noon Reports – Belle Amie – 2021-11-04

Location: Guadalupe Island

Weather: Clear Skies, Wind (15-20kts), and NNE Swell (8-9ft)

Yesterday afternoon went well. After we moved in the morning we still had some pretty active seas, but the sharks were with us the whole time. In the afternoon conditions calmed down considerably and the sharks started hitting the surface bait hard. Multiple partial breaches just like the previous two days, with guests loving the show from the back deck. Those who did take their submersible cage dives were rewarded by a large female passing very close to the cages over and over again to check them out. One diver said it was the best afternoon of the trip. KVH was down most of the day since we were tucked up so close to the cliffs, but I would say that is a worthwhile trade-off: Internet for sharks. All the guests had a great day.

Our transit was just a bit bumpy, with 8-9′ seas being pushed around by 15-20knts of wind, but by mid-morning, we were in relatively calm waters.

On-time arrival to the dock and perfectly on-time disembarkation. Now the crew is all working to get the ship ready for the new crew arriving this afternoon. Should all go smoothly.
