Captain’s Noon Reports – Explorer – 2023-03-08

18.46.752N – 111.02.813W anchor in 110Ft we are diving Manta Heaven, I mean Punta Tosca, this place has been so far the best manta interaction and they are in big numbers and all sizes today, the water in first dive was really clear averaging 100Ft of visibility, current running to the west and the fish playing in the current, Punta Tosca has loads and loads of fish, just as we were getting ready to board the skiff for first dive a manta was feeding just 5 yards away from the dive platform, the tree groups we have were dopped in different parts of the site and all of them were able to see mantas and they were very friendly one of the groups made it to the receptor (buoy) and had a school of 50 plus hammerhead sharks, diving is been mantastic they say, but the cherry on top of this cake was the humpback whale, as I was picking the last divers on second dive a calf and mama came in close to the skiff and baby started to leap out of the water, full body 1, 2, 3, 4 times, then half of the body another five times to then leave the site just as they came, guests were applauding cheering and some were crying ¨a life changing encounter¨ we were all excited and did not want to get back to the boat, we just wanted some more…… in first dive there were also a pod of at least 8 dolphins, one of the groups were able to see them and were really happy about it.
